Chashme Shahi is one of the three Mughal gardens in Srinagar, located in the Zabarwan range overlooking the Dal Lake. Also known as Chashma-i-Shahi, it was built 1632 AD by Ali Marda Khan on the orders of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his eldest son Dara Shikoh. Chashme Shahi Garden is part of the Mughal Gardens, and is a must-see in Srinagar. The natural spring in this top attraction in Srinagar catches the eyes of the tourists. Tourists visit this attraction in Srinagar to drink the water from the spring which is believed to have medicinal properties. It is to be noted, even in the peak summer season, the water from the spring is always cold.

Architecture Of Chashme Shahi

Chashme Shahi is a three-terraced garden through which flows the water of the natural spring. On the top terrace of the garden, a double storey hut is built which is believed to be the origin source of the water. It is built around a freshwater spring that was unearthed by Rupa Bhawani, a renowned female Kashmiri saint.

How To Reach Chasme Shahi?

Located approximately 12 km from the Srinagar city centre, Chashme Shahi can be easily reached with a half-hour drive. There are Matador and Mazda options to reach the garden. Although overcrowded, this option is cheaper compared to the expensive auto rickshaws here.
