| About:The Coimbatore Golf Club was started in the year 1977 when a group of golf enthusiasts started playing golf in the grounds belonging to the Coimbatore Jail. A nine hole course with browns, right in the heart of the city was used.Leading Coimbatore Industrialist K.Rajagopal of the the Lakshmi Mills Group, is the main person behind this big endeavor of bringing quality golf to Coimbatore. His efgolf-club to contributing time and resources saw the foundation of the Coimbatore Golf Foundation, a non profit organization identifying and buying 150 acres of suitable land in the outskirts of Coimbatore. Even today K.Rajagopal dedicates a lot of time to develop the course that he loves. He is widely known in golfing circles not only in India but around the world. He is affectionately called as “Captain” by golfers of all ages alike.The present course at Chettipalayam is located 16 kilometers from the city and is accessible by various roads. | Lush Fairways and manicured, true greens give every golfer the satisfaction of playing this Championship course with USGA Course rating of 74.2 for men and 74.5 for the ladies. The 6973 yard par 72, 18 holes Championship course, is yet a challenging course with a mix of bunkers, water hazards and demanding roughs. Coimbatore Golf Club is a proactive organization with active golfers and tournaments all round the year.Hundreds of Exotic tropical trees give the golfer a challenge as well as the pleasure to be on the course. The course is rich of more than 50 species of birds and a host to large number peacocks.
