BIDAR
 
FORT (15TH-16TH C/ ISLAMIC)
In 1424, the capital of Bahamini dynasty was transferred 116 km away to Bidar. Four other Muslim kingdoms of Bijapur, Golconda, Perar and Ahmednagar broke away from the Bhahamini kingdom. They called themselves five kingdoms but fought against each other.
The Bidar fort, reinforced over a period of 200 years is a very impressive one. The fort is located north of the city. The exceedingly thick walls and bastions fold over many times and should be more than 10km in actual length. It is built with bricks and basalt, and decorated with tiles. Most of the manypalaces and mosques inside are destroyed now. The Rangin Mahal and Sora Kamba Mosque(1427) are in good condition. A Hindu style wooden structure is seen inside the Rangin Mahal and the walls still have a Persian style tiles. Sora Kanba mosque was originally designed as Friday mosque. After another Friday mosque was constructed in the city was used as the prayer room of the Royals.

MADARSA OF KHAWAJA MAHMUD GAWAN (1472/ ISLAMIC)
A half open space with a huge entrance arch called iwan. The four iwans faced each other surrounding a courtyard which was the entrance, class room, prayer room. The surrounding three-storied buildings were dormitories and lecture halls. This scale of madarasa, show the cultural emancipation Bidar then enjoyed
TOMB OF ASHTUR (15TH C/ ISLAMIC)
The Tomb of Barid dynasty are 1.5 km away from the city. While the small tombs resemble the older tombs, the next generation tombs were built higher, with more storeys and huge arch enterences spanning hale the height of tombs. The tomb of Ali Barid Shah belongs to this generation and has been built on a foundation platform in the middle of a squre garden.the tomb architecture of the Deccan after this period cab be seen in the Royal tombs of Golconda.
