Rayong province occupies Thailand's eastern Gulf coastline approximately 180 kilometers southeast of Bangkok known for extensive fruit orchards pristine islands and industrial port facilities. The coastline stretches for approximately 100 kilometers featuring quiet beaches fishing villages and the popular Koh Samet island with its white sand beaches and clear waters. Rayong town serves as a commercial hub while the surrounding countryside produces durian mangosteen and rambutan making the province Thailand's fruit basket.

November to February brings cooler temperatures and calm seas perfect for island boat trips and beach activities. March through May sees increasing heat though sea breezes provide relief especially on Koh Samet. The nearest airport is Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi approximately 120 kilometers away though some visitors route through U-Tapao Airport in neighboring Chonburi province.

Songthaews connect Rayong town with major beaches and piers for island boats with frequent service along coastal routes. Longtail boats and speedboats provide transport to Koh Samet and smaller islands from Ban Phe and other piers. Motorbike rentals available in beach towns and on Koh Samet for independent exploration. Private car hire recommended for visiting scattered beaches and fruit orchards across the province. Tuk-tuks operate within town centers.

Rayong's cuisine highlights fresh seafood from the Gulf of Thailand including grilled pla kapong spicy seafood salads and salted fish specialties. The province is famous for its fruit orchards producing Thailand's finest durian mangosteen and rambutan sold at roadside markets and directly from orchards during harvest seasons. Boat races occur during the rainy season on the Rayong River between July and September.
