Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are the best seasons, with mild temperatures ideal for strolling Suzhou's classical gardens and the canals of Zhouzhuang and Tongli. Late spring also brings blooming gardens, while summer's heat and humidity make walking tours less comfortable across the whole province.
How to Reach / Travel Access
Nanjing Lukou International Airport and Sunan Shuofang International Airport near Wuxi both serve the province. Jiangsu has one of China's densest high-speed rail networks: Shanghai to Suzhou takes about 25 minutes, and Shanghai to Nanjing takes roughly an hour, making the province exceptionally easy to explore as a series of day trips from Shanghai or a longer standalone rail itinerary.
