Gundicha Temple is a situated in the Puri in the state of Odisha, India. This is the Hindu temple. The temple is in the middle of a beautiful garden, with walls of all sides. It is situated at a distance of 3 km from the main temple of Jagannath which is known as Shrimandira. The Gundicha temple is named after Gundicha, the queen of Indradyumna who built the temple. Puri’s celebration is important for the annual Rath Yatra to be the destination. This is the that  place where Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra are come every year to abode within their respective chariots during Car festival or Rath yatra.

History of Gundicha Temple

The history of Gundicha Temple tells the glorious rule of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. Gundicha Temple has many legends and mythological significance. Gundicha Temple is associated with the annual seven-day stay of Lord Jagannath and the central symbol of his siblings during the Rath Yatra festival of Puri. The Queen of Indruduumani, after which Gundicha Temple is named, has a history of Gundicha temple. The sight of Lord Gundich Temple on Lord Goddess Jagannath was created by a divine architect Vishwakarma. Influenced by the Deity, Rani of Indra Dymani insisted on husband to build a temple for the deity and start the rath yatra. In another way, it is revealed that Jagannath was pleased with his temple and promised to come to his house, now the temple of Gundicha.

  • Chilika Lake is biggest salt lake. Take a boat ride and sailing will take you to the island on the other side. This lake is completely going to believe that nature is actually the most beautiful creation. The boatman said that dolphins can be spotted during the morning.

  • Baliharachandi Beach is a very strange approach, you walk for 500 meters after riding a 200 meter boat and then walking again between a forests which takes you to the beach alone, but this scene is breathtaking and thoroughly is worth it.
