About Netaji Birth Place Museum

This museum is located in Cuttack city. This museum has been built in honor of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Netaji was a Bengali who was a great freedom fighter of India. Netaji’s life-size statue in this museum has many pictures depicting the life of Subhash Chandra Bose. Important events have been successfully captured in their lives. This museum stands at the birthplace of Netaji. Department of Culture, Government of India offered financial assistance for converting the house into Netaji Birthplace Museum. The museum rooms have changed into various stages of life and galleries displaying freedom fighter’s activities. The museum includes articles, antiques, documents, books and other things that have been found in the house and collected from various sources. This place attracts many historians every year.

History of Netaji Birth Place Museum

Netaji’s father’s name was Jaankinath, for this reason this place is also called Jankinath Bhawan. Netaji was born in 1897. He had eight brothers and six sisters who shared this house with this huge family. The house is a two-story L-shaped building with a temple on the back. At the other end, it is also a big stable. This place has been completely renovated and in the year 2007 a museum has been provided. The living room of the house has been converted into a gallery displaying various pictures of Netaji and his family members. Photos reflect their story at different stages of their life. Netaji’s birth place museum includes ancient furniture used by the family in ancient times. There is a library section in the house, which contains important documents, 22 books written by Netaji and various books highlighting Netaji’s biography, including the Vedas and other Upanishads.
