History of Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts
Sunaparanta was founded in 2009–2010 by industrialist Dattaraj V. Salgaocar and his wife Dipti Salgaocar as a non-profit cultural centre. It is housed in a Portuguese-style villa in the Fontainhas quarter of Panaji. The name “Sunaparanta” is of Buddhist/Pali origin. It has hosted over 28 exhibitions featuring 267+ artists, including Nikhil Chopra, Mario Miranda, Shilpa Gupta, and international artists like Sol LeWitt and Rirkrit Tiravanija. Programmes include Sketch Club, Film for Thought, Children’s Theatre Club, Open Studio (ceramics), and the annual Sensorium arts festival.
