History of Naval Aviation Museum Vasco da Gama
The Naval Aviation Museum was founded on 12 October 1998 and inaugurated by Admiral R.H. Tahiliani (Retd), the first naval pilot to land a fighter on INS Vikrant. It is spread over 3 acres adjacent to INS Hansa naval base. A major revamp was re-dedicated on 4 April 2022 with enhanced AV aids and upgraded galleries. It won the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award in 2020. The museum houses 14 types of decommissioned aircraft, including the Short Sealand (the first aircraft of the Indian Naval Air Arm), Hawker Sea Hawk, Sea Harrier, and the massive Lockheed Super Constellation.
Things to do at Naval Aviation Museum Vasco da Gama

Explore the outdoor aircraft park with 13 historic aircraft. See engine displays including Rolls-Royce Nene, Dart, and Pegasus engines. Visit the armament room with bombs, torpedoes, and missiles. Watch a 20-minute documentary in the mini theatre. Try the Virtual Reality corner for an immersive flying experience.
Things to visit & highlights

The Hawker Sea Hawk. The indoor gallery modelled on an aircraft carrier interior. The panoramic views from the gallery.
Climate & weather
Goa has a tropical monsoon climate with three distinct seasons. Winter (November–February) is the peak tourist season: temperatures range from 20°C to 32°C with low humidity, clear skies, and calm seas — ideal for all outdoor activities. Summer (March–May) is hot and humid with temperatures reaching 35°C; beaches are less crowded but midday heat can be intense. The monsoon (June–September) brings heavy rainfall, rough seas, and high humidity; many beach shacks close, but the landscape is lush and green, and it is the quietest time for those seeking solitude.
