Heavenly Lake of Tianshan, known in Chinese as Tianchi, is a crescent-shaped alpine lake at roughly 1,900 to 2,000 metres on the northern slope of Bogda Peak, about 100 kilometres east of Urumqi and a favourite day trip from the Xinjiang capital.
