Cliffside canal paths can be narrow, exposed and, in places, involve significant drops, so sturdy footwear and caution are essential, particularly for visitors uneasy with heights. Follow posted safety barriers and staff guidance, supervise children closely on exposed sections, and avoid the site during heavy rain or icy conditions when paths may become hazardous.

Wear sturdy, non-slip walking shoes suited to uneven cliffside paths and tunnel sections, and bring a light jacket, since mountain sections can be cooler and windier than the surrounding lowlands. Water and snacks are useful given the limited dining options directly on the route, and a flashlight or phone light can help in the darker tunnel sections like Youth Cave.
