Baishuiyang Scenic Area sits in Pingnan County, part of Ningde City in northeastern Fujian, and is famous for a single natural feature: a vast, gently sloping slab of granite riverbed over which a shallow sheet of water flows for more than two kilometres. Marketed as the world's largest single-slab flowing-water surface, it lets visitors walk, wade, and even lie down on the smooth rock while a thin film of water glides past their feet. Framed by forested hills and part of the wider Taimu Mountain–Baishuiyang Global Geopark, it is one of Fujian's most distinctive geological attractions, drawing photographers, families, and hikers who combine it with the nearby Yuanyang Stream nature reserve.

Baishuiyang lies in the mountainous interior of Pingnan County, roughly two to three hours by road from both Fuzhou and Ningde city centre. The scenic area occupies a river valley where a granite bedrock outcrop has been polished smooth by centuries of flowing water, creating a natural rock terrace rather than a conventional riverbank or beach.

Pingnan has a subtropical monsoon climate with hot, humid summers and mild, cooler winters. Rainfall is heaviest from spring into early summer, which can raise water levels and occasionally close the site for safety. Autumn brings clearer skies and steadier water flow, making conditions more predictable for wading across the rock slab.

Entry is generally ticketed, often as a combined pass covering admission and the internal shuttle bus, with rates in the moderate range typical of major Fujian natural attractions. A visit of four to six hours is typically enough to enjoy wading across the rock slab, take in the viewpoints, and relax by the water. Travellers pairing it with Yuanyang Stream or other nearby sites often plan a full day or an overnight stay in Pingnan.

The nearest rail access is Ningde's high-speed railway station, from which travellers continue by bus or taxi to Pingnan County and on to the scenic area. Pingnan's own bus station handles regional coach connections to Fuzhou and Ningde.

The polished rock surface becomes slippery when wet, so grippy water shoes are strongly advised, and visitors should stay within marked wading zones and follow staff instructions on safe water depth.
