Sao Beach (Bai Sao) is a long crescent of fine white sand on the southeast coast of Phu Quoc, backed by casuarina trees and lapped by shallow, turquoise water that stays calm for much of the year. It's consistently ranked among Phu Quoc's most photogenic beaches and has become one of the island's most visited stretches of coast, with sun loungers, beach clubs, and watersport operators lining parts of the shore.

Despite the popularity, the beach is long enough that quieter sections remain a short walk from the busiest loungers, and the water's gentle slope makes it one of the safer, easiest beaches on the island for swimming.

Sao Beach delivers the postcard image most people picture when they think of Phu Quoc: pale sand, clear shallow water, and a scattering of small offshore rocks and boats. It's an easy, low-effort beach day with reliable facilities, watersports, and seafood shacks close by, making it a natural anchor for a Phu Quoc itinerary.

The fine white sand and vivid turquoise shallows are the main draw, along with the small rocky outcrops near the shoreline, beachside seafood restaurants serving fresh catch, and watersport options such as jet-skiing and parasailing available from operators along the beach.

Swim in the calm, shallow water, rent a sun lounger and umbrella for the day, try parasailing or jet-skiing with one of the beachfront operators, or simply walk the length of the beach for quieter stretches away from the main crowds.

Many visitors combine a Sao Beach morning with a boat trip from nearby An Thoi for snorkelling, or continue on to Khem Beach a short drive away for a second, slightly quieter beach in the afternoon.

The water is generally calm and shallow, but it's still worth checking conditions before swimming out further, especially if visiting outside the dry season when the sea can be rougher; watch belongings on the open beach where loungers aren't directly supervised.
