Day 1 : Nainital, Uttarakhand, India

1. Naini Lake

Time: 08.00 AM

The next destination to explore through your 1-day Nainital tour package is the Naini Lake. Nestled in the heart of the hill station, Naini Lake, also recognized as Nainital Lake, is a kidney-shaped lake that is encompassed by snow-capped Himalayan mountain ranges, Tiffin Peak and Naini Peak. Situated in Sukhtal, on the Kaladungi road, the Eco Cave Garden is a natural park that invites holidaymakers to enjoy an enchanting journey through seven interconnected craggy caves. The hanging gardens and a musical fountain make it an ideal picnic base for tourists of all ages, whereas the wild side of the Kumaon region lets you learn more about its significance. It is a short stroll away from the Naina Devi Temple and can be visited in the months of March, April, May, and June.


4. Lovers’ point

6. Naina Devi Temple

The Temple of Shri Naina Devi Ji is located on top of a hill. Its base also has the samadhi of Bhagat Jatt Jeona Morh. It is part of the Bilaspur District, Himachal Pradesh. The temple is well-connected with National Highway No. 21. Nanda Devi temple can be reached by a road (that meanders along the hill up to a specific point). Once you reach the end of the road, you will have to step out of the private cab and climb up the concrete steps that will take you to the top. There is this cable car facility available, that you can easily avail of, that takes pilgrims from the bed of the hill to the main temple. The hills of Naina Devi overlook the Gobind Sagar lake. The lake was a product of the Bhakra-Nangal Dam project. A few famous mythological stories are connoted with the establishment of this temple.

7. Thandi Sadak

Time:  3:00 PM

This place is abundant when it comes to natural beauty. Thandi Sarak still has the charm of the old world, that the English have left this place with. You can still feel the old quaint British atmosphere all around the place. Even the buildings and cultural lodges still retain the same. Thandi Sadak is a jogger’s paradise as it is far far away from the chaotic hustle and bustle of the main town. 8. Nainital Lake

The next stop in our one-day trip, the Nainital Lake is a natural and freshwater crescent-shaped lake. Its origin is tectonic and it is shaped like a kidney. Nainital Lake is one of the four Lakes of Kumaon hills. The other three lakes are called Sattal, Bhimtal, and Naukuchiatal. If you are lucky, you might catch sight of the Mirror carp and the Carps Mahseer. The lake and its surroundings also house about nine different species of birds and animals. The Kumaon festival, which brings out the authentic local culture and traditions of Nainital, is a sight to behold. It is held every year during the winter months.

9. Mall Road

Time: 3:50 PM

Mall Road was built by the English during British colonial rule. It is the only and the main road that runs through the heart of Nainital. It runs parallel to the lake connecting the two endpoints of the town. It has been renamed Govind Ballabh Pant Marg by the locals. Nothing can beat lazy evening strolls along Mall Road. It will make most of your stress disappear in a jiffy. It is also a shopaholic’s paradise. You can find the cheapest but most unique souvenirs here. This road has a few Hotels and Travel Agencies. Surprisingly, it does have Banks. The Departmental Stores are to die for. There are a number of quirky restaurants and Cafes as well to appease your tastebuds and give you a taste of the authentic cuisine of the mountains.

10. High Altitude Zoo

Time: 4:30 PM

It is the best place for every wildlife lover out there. It is officially named Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo Nainital. It is the most well-maintained zoo found in the state of Uttarakhand. It covers an area of about 4.963 Hectares. It is inhabited by a plethora of endangered species, many of which are adopted by organizations safeguarding animal rights. It is located at an altitude of 2100 meters, which makes it a suitable home for a number of birds. It is often referred to as ‘Sher Ka Danda’.
