History
Yelagiri is a wonderful hilly terrain which is the home of a number of tribal families. Meandering roads, green valleys and the chill in the air tells the tourists that they have arrived to Yelagiri.
Interesting places to Visit
Punganoor Artificial Lake-cum-Park: This picturesque lake is one of the most popular destinations in Yelagiri. One can take a short walk along the lake side and also enjoy a boat ride. The park located near the lake is an ideal place for taking your kids. However, picnicking is not allowed within the premises of the park.
Jalagamparai Waterfalls: The murmuring Attaru Rives flows through the Yelagiri Hills, and plummets down to form a highly captivating waterfall. It’s an hour, 5 km, walk from Yelagiri downhill.
Murugan Koil: Murugan temple is a sacred destination for the followers of Hindu religion. The temple is located adjacent to the Jalagamparai Waterfalls. The temple is in the shape of a Lingam.
Swami Malai Hills:
These hills gives a feel of a huge cake laying in front of you, as it has a very strong base at the bottom and a high peak on that. This high peak just tends to touch the sky. Highest peak from the swami malai hills is about 4338 meters above from the ground.
