St Pauls Marthoma Church At Bhopal
Juhanon Mar Thoma Metropolitan (Mar Thoma XVIII) was the Head of the Mar Thoma church from 1947- 1976, who gave leadership to the church and at the same time actively participated in social and political arenas. He was respected by people from all walks of life, from all religions and from all age groups. He is remembered for providing the church with the motto Lighted to Lighten. "The Church must be interested where human life is interested," was his motto.

History
The Mar Thoma Centre is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Mathews Mar Athanasius (1900- 1974), who was the first Missionary Bishop of the Mar Thoma Church. He was an eminent educationist and had contributed considerably to the infrastructural development of the church by founding a large number of educational institutions, hospitals, community centers, ashrams etc and had nurtured them with utmost devotion and personal care for rendering valuable service to the people, particularly to the poor and the needy.
