About Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary:

Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary situated in Bargarh district, Odisha, India and it is located near the Hirakund Dam at Sambalpur. It is spread over 347 sq kms of dry deciduous mixed forests and surrounding the wildlife ranges of Kamgaon and Lakhanpur, Debrigarh is boarded by the Debrigarh, Jhagadabehera, Lambipalli and Mundakati villages. Here you can see here are the leopard, hyena, bison, Royal Bengal tiger, sambar deer, chousingha, spotted deer, chameleon, crested serpent eagle and monitor lizard. It is one of the famous tourist destinations.

  • History of Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary:

    Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the historic Sanctuaries of the State and finds a special place in the national map. As it is believed that State’s renowned freedom fighter (Surendra Sai) took shelter in this dense forest. . It has been declared a sanctuary by the state government notified by the Government Notification 2409 / FFAH DT 08.02.19 85. This is the ideal house of Chousingha. One can trace Tigers, Leopards, Hyena and Indian Hare in this Sanctuary. The sanctuary is also home to the endangered species of four-horned antelope.
