About Baitarani River :

Among the six major rivers of Odisha state, the Baitarani River is one. Baitarani River is also known as Vaitarani. This river originates from the Guptaganga Hills. The river flows over the rock and after half a kilometer it becomes underground. Baitarani River is a very good source of water for agricultural irrigation. Much of this area is not subject to agricultural land. The highest part of the river flows in the north and divides the delta coastal plains into three areas from north to south. Betarani, Mahanadi and Brahmin.

Location information Baitarani River :

A major part of the river basin is in the state of Odisha, while a small patch of upper reach is in the state of Jharkhand. The Upper Baitarani Basin on the western slopes of Eastern Ghats, which includes the Panjop-Kanjar-Pallahara Plateau, is one of the two plateaus, "Central Platourous" - one of the five major morphological areas of Odisha.

Tributaries of Baitarani River

This river enters an area which is in Anandpur and produces a deltaic region in Akhapuda. After joining the Brahmin in Dharmara mouth near Chandali, the river was included in the distance of 360 kms to fall into the Bay of Bengal. Of these, 30 assisted rivers are connect on the right side and 35 are connected on the left side. Some of its subsidiary tributaries are Buri, Kanjari, Ambazhar, Musal, Kusai, Sandy Baitani and the helpful tributaries.
