About Raibania Fort: |
The Raibania fort is an Indian heritage site and it is known for its group of forts in raign. This fort complex is considered as the largest medieval fort of Baleshwar district, Odisha India. It was built during the Buddhist era in Odisha and it is located in Lakshmantha, 14 kms from Jaleshwar and 3.2 kms from Suvarnarekha River. There are several ponds and tanks in the fort, which once was a place for the royal people, now it is an ordinary plain made of archaeological rain. The beautiful forest of Jaychandi or Jaychandi is now used as a picnic spot. |

History of Raibania Fort: |
The Raibania fort was built during the Buddhist era in Odisha and Langula Narasinha Deba, king of the Eastern Ganga dynasty of Utkala from 1238 to 1264, built the forts after conquering Humayun Khan to obstruct the entry of the Mongols into Odisha. The Raibania fort was a part of the Mayurbhanj Gadjat state before its merger with the Government of India in 1949. |
