History of Barabati Fort: |
This fort is a 14th century fort built by the Ganga Dynasty. History reveals that the developed of Cuttack was done by King Narnupa Kesri, and the king built a stone-like structure around the river to save it from the flood. It is located on the Mahanadi River. After seeing this wonderful and tactical architecture, King Anangbhima Dev III shifted its oldest area from Cuttack and developed the fort Barbati fort and later Chalukya Kings built a nine-storey building in the fort. In 1568, two rings were made around the banks of the rivers. After that many rulers came and rebuilt the fort. Now, only the ruins of the fort can be found. |
