About Durga Puja:

Durga Puja is the most important festival of Odisha which is magnificently celebrated all over the state of Odisha. This festival is widely celebrate in India. It is celebrated in the month of Aswin or Kartik i.e.  September or October according to the English Calendar. The streets and lighted up and Pandals are decorated to set the spirit of festivity among the people. Usually the pandal is beautifully decorated. The festival of Durga Puja begins with the Mahayana, which is the first phase of Ashwin waxing moon.
The clay idol of the goddess is decorated with small lights and beautiful flowers. Goddess sitting on a lion has been shown to kill “Buffalo demon” - Mahishasura with his two sons, Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya, and two daughters Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati present a powerful picture standing true its synonym “Goddess of power”. The main puja is three days such as Mahasaptami, Mahaastami, and Mahanavami. The puja rituals are long and very detailed and completed. And Odisha a Hindu state also sees this festival with a great pomp and show.

    Durga Puja is a festival, which is celebrated for 10 days. Durga Puja is celebrated in Odisha with two different ways. Durga Puja is celebrated with proper rituals for 16 days in Shakti peethas (Goddess temple), starting from Krishnapaksha Ashtami to Shukla paksha Navami of Hindu Oriya Calendar. Usually the pandal is beautifully decorated. Durga Puja is celebrated for three-four days in Orissa and there is an important for Hindu devotees.
