About Dhanu Yatra: |
Lord Krishna is a mythological character in Hindu religion. Dhanu Yatra of Odisha is an important festival which is based on mythological stories of 'Bhagwat Purana'. Lord Krishna with his magnificent tales attracts various tourist to take part in this festivals of Odisha. The Dhanu Yatra of Orissa is based on the story of Krishna, who visited the spotlight to visit Mathura which at that time witnessed the inauguration of 'Bow' festival organized by the then King Katha of Mathura. The Dhanu means Bow. This festival is held in the Sambalpur District. During this festival the tourists gather from different parts of the state and witness various local performances. This performance are held especially in the afternoon. Dhanu Yatra takes place in the month of December – January. |
