Puri is the spiritual capital of Odisha, which is known as a holy city filled with famous temples, temples, maths, asylums, natural wonders, beaches, architectural arts and many other things which attract the world on tourists. Puri is basically a religious place and attracts tourists every year. It is the district headquarters of a Puri District. It is located at Bay of Bengal, and 60 Km from the Capital city Bhubaneswar. It is also known as Sri Jagannath Dham. The holy temples and pilgrimages of Puri, its chariots and white areas of beaches have also become sacred for religious pilgrims. The main attraction in Puri are all festivals. Among all festival Rath Yatra or Chariot festival is very famous.     Puri is the holy land of Lord Jagannath, also known as the popular local name Shreekhetra, contains many ancient names in Hindu scriptures such as Rigveda, Matsya Purana, Brahma Purana, Narada Purana, Padma Purana, Skanda Purana, Kapila Purana and Niladrimahodaya.
    The Jagannath Puri temple was built in the 12th Century by the ruler of the Ganga Dynasty. In the first half of the twelfth century, it was that Anatavarman Chodaganga made the great temple in Puri in the memory of Purushottama, which have one of the thousands of names of Lord Vishnu. Puri, for several years, remained in the form of a holy place, until the British East India Company realized its potential as a seaside resort. Puri was the capital of Orissa till 1816, after which it was transferred to Cuttack.
