Cuttack City is located at 30 Km from Bhubaneswar – Odisha Capital. It is the second largest city in the eastern Indian State of Odisha and it is also the headquarters of Cuttack City. Cuttack is one of the oldest cities of Odisha. The name of the city is an English word of Katak, which literally context of ancient Barabati fort, which was initially developed in the city. Cuttack is like an island, on the head of the Mahanadi delta created by Mahanadi and Kathajodi Rivers. Cuttack features as the famous tourist destination in Odisha. The main attraction in this city, the stone Revetment of Cuttack, Barabati Fort, Temple of Cuttack Chandi, Quadam-i-Rasool, Dhavaleshwar, and others.   • History of Cuttack City:

    Cuttack city is one of the oldest cities in India and the capital city of Orissa (Odisha) for almost 9th Centuary. It was built as 989 A.D by the King of Narupa Keshari. The Cuttack city was rich and eventful history, Before the British rule came under the rule of Mughals, Afghans and Marathas.
    In 1956, the Capital was shifted to Bhubaneswar. The Cuttack developed into a city into five village like as Choudwar Katak, Saranasi Katak, Sarangagarh Katak, Viraja Katak and Amaravati Katak. The first Newspaper of Odisha “UtkalDipika” was published by Cuttack printing company in 1866. The establishment of the first Government English School in 1841, after the occupation of the British, there was a major change in the academic scenario in Cuttack. In 1948 Akaswani (All India Radio) was established in the old Madhupur Building of Cuttack.

    Barabati Fort: The Barabati forts is one of the most tourist attraction in Cuttack. Barabati forts is located in the Banks of Mahanadi River.This is an 11th Centuary forts that was rebuilt in the 14th Centuary. In Archeological Survey this forts area 102 acres and was surrounded with laterite and sand stone walls.

    Quadam-I-Rasool Shrine: The Quadam-I-Rasool Mosque is one of the most historical significant for Hindu and Muslim religion. This was made by Hindu ruler for the Muslim in the 18th century. Inside this Mosque there are three mosque and the central one has a stone footprint of Prophet Muhammad. The beautiful dome and Nawabat Khana are a rare work of art on these mosques.

    Chandi Temple: This Chandi Temple is ancient temple which is dedicated to Goddess Chandi. It is located at 7 Km from Cuttack. This temple is famous for Durga and Kali puja festival. This temple goddess popularly called Maa Katak Chandi. She has four hands holding Paasha, Ankusha, Abhaya, and Varada. The interior of the temple is wonderful designed and the gateway of temple is architectural brilliance.

    Barabati Stadium : Barabati Stadium is oldest ground in India is used for Cricket and Football. International Cricket matches also held here. The Barabati stadium is located nearby Barabati forts. This is very nice stadium. It looks quite modern and all international standard facilities are available. It also host national football tournament. The beautiful stadium is surrounded by a very large gallery and its capacity 46000 for people. Good infrastructure, nice ground for sports lovers.

    Netaji Birth Place Museum : This museum was built in honor of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, a great freedom fighter of India. Netaji was Bengali but was born in Cuttack, Orissa. This museum has a life-size statue of Netaji. There are many photos portrays the life of Subhash Chandra Bose. The museum has a collection of Azad Hind Fauz and Independent Government such as flag, coin and postage stamp etc. This museum stands at the birthplace of Netaji.

    Deer Park: It is one of the oldest park in the Cuttack City. Here approx. 200 deer are there in this park. Great place for kids and family to enjoy free time. We can visit nearby Barabati Forts and Barabati Stadium. This place for natural lovers.
