Panzara River

About:

The Panzara or Panjhra is a river in Kandesh region of Maharashtra state of India. It is a tributary of the Tapi River. Panjhra River originates just few kilometers from a small town Pimpalner, tal-sakri in Dhule District. One small reserivor named Latipada dam is constructed just after its origin.

The city is dotted with religious places: for Hindus there are famous temples such as Ekvira Devi Mandir and Swaminarayan Mandir; besides there are Gurudwara, Churches and Masjids for people of other faiths. Recently a new sports stadium has been constructed in city.

There is a Vipassana Meditation center about 15 km away from the town, near the Dedargaon Lake which supplies water to the Dhule city. The meditation center is run by Khandesh Vipassana Viswast Mandal and the meditation technique is taught in ten day residential courses, free of cost.

Chand Bibi Palace:
The village has Salabat Khan tomb, he is one of three floors of the massive stone structure. It is 13 km from Ahmednagar town. Situated on a hill, he looks at the city shines in the night. It is visible almost everywhere in Ahmednagar City.

Ahmednagar Fort:
The fortress was Nizam Ahmed Shah. India first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru wrote a book, The Discovery of India in this fortress, as by the British in 1942.

Renuka / temple of the goddess Durga:
This temple is located in Kedgaon (about 3 km from Ahmednagar Railway Station, 5 km from Ahmednagar ST bus stand) east near Pune-Nagar highway. Navaratri (nine nights) festival is an event, the nine nights of the struggle between the goddess Durga and the demon king Mahishasura. Finally, the goddess Durga Mahishasura killed in the ninth night and the festival means that the triumph of good over evil.

Alamagir:
Alamgir is located near Bhingar in Pathardi road. Aurangzeb died at the age of 91 in the same place, his body was Khultabad near Aurangabad and bury. This historic site is also home to a Masjid Baradari are assembled and used. The library near the Masjid has rarely Koran, dating from the time of Emperor Aurangzeb. One of the Koran was written here by the emperor himself

Vishal Ganpati Mandir:
Ganeshji This temple is located in Mali Wada, in Ahmednagar City. This temple is of great significance for people in Ahmednagar.

Ahmednagar Fort:
Ahmednagar Fort is about 500 years old and is located at a distance of 1-km to the east of Ahmadnagar city. Ahmed Nizamshah built the fort in 1490 AD. It is circular in shape and has 18m high wall reinforced with 22 bastions. A deep trench containing water surrounded the fort, which kept the enemy at bay.

During the 1942 Quit India Movement, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad and other national leaders were imprisoned in the Ahmadnagar Fort. Pandit Nehru wrote the famous "Discovery Of India" when he was in the fort here in 1944. Inside the fort tourists can watch the Leaders room, where Nehru and the other national leaders were imprisoned from 1942-45.

Shirdi:
Home of the end of Sai Baba, revered by Hindus and Muslims, about 83 km from Ahmednagar City.

Tomb of Meher Baba, a place of international pilgrimage:
Meherabad, where the samadhi (tomb) of spiritual master Meher Baba is a place of pilgrimage visited by thousands each year, especially on the anniversary of his death, Amartithi. His home was Meherazad (near Pimpalgaon village), about nine kilometres north of Ahmednagar.
