Madhya Pradesh, and also Guna is a city and a municipality in Guna district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the administrative headquarters of Guna District and is located on the banks of Parbati river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guna, is a district in north-eastern Madhya Pradesh, has been in the news recently. Two prominent subjects that made headlines were the story of &#8216;<strong>Kumbhkaran<\/strong>&#8216;, a man whose family falsely claimed that he slept for six months sans break, and another person from Guna who won an astronomical Rs. 1 crore on KBC2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The district is home to the heritage citadel Bajrangarh fort, though now it is lying in depilated state. It is also had religious places such as Bishbji and Jain shrines besides a few other interesting places. Though it&#8217;s not on a tourism map, neither many people know much about it, except in political circles. Guna was once famous for&nbsp;<strong>saris<\/strong>&nbsp;from Chanderi block of the district which recently became part of the newly formed district Ashok Nagar. The western boundary of the District is well defined by the river. The Parbati is the main river flowing along the western boundary touching Rajgarh District of M.P. and Jhalawarh and Kota District of Rajasthan. Later on Raghogarh was split into three state of which Garah and Dharnawada State among the three clamaints of Raghogarh family. After the great revolt of 1857, Guna district thus passed under the control of Gwalior State with Raghogarh as its mandatory chief. An assistant to the resident of Gwalior was posted at Guna which remained. an English cantonment after the year 1860. Although Guna was dejure a part of Gwalior State, but because of its British cantonment, it was considered expedient to locate the district headquarter there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guna was part of the ancient Avanti Kingdom founded by Chand Pradyota Mahesena. Later Shishusangh added the kingdom of Avant, which included Guna to the growing empire of Magadha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bajrangarh<\/strong>, about 6 miles from Guna enjoyed that privilege. In 1897 the midland railway constructed the rail route passing through Guna.After independence on 28th May 1948, Guna became the part of Madhya Bharat as one of its 16 Districts subsequently as a result of State on the formation of new Madhya Pradesh in 1956 Guna district became a part of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After India gained independence, Guna became part of the&nbsp;<strong>new state<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>Madhya Bharat<\/strong>&nbsp;on 28 May 1948 as one of its 16 districts. On November 1, 1956, Madhya Bharat was merged into Madhya Pradesh state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally founded by&nbsp;<strong>Chand Pradyota Mahesena<\/strong>, the Guna region is historically connected to the ancient Kingdom of Avanti. After being conquered in the historical 18th Century, the area of Guna was then made a part of the Gwalior Kingdom. After the Indian Independence, the Isagarh District then administered the area of Guna and was made a part of the Madhya Bharat State in 1948, and was moved on as a part of the Madhya Pradesh State.
