The town of Dewas is the district headquarters.t is a&nbsp;<strong>suburb &amp; satellite town of Indore.<\/strong>&nbsp;It is the administrative center of the Dewas District, and was formerly the seat of two princely states during the British Raj. Today, Dewas is an industrial town, with companies like&nbsp;<strong>Ranbaxy<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Tata International<\/strong>&nbsp;being prominent players. Tekri, a hillock, which is in the centre of the town, holds a panoramic view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Location_info\"><\/span>Location info:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dewas is located at 22.97 Deg North,76.07 Deg East according to the globe dimension.It comes under the Indore region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"History_of_Dewas\"><\/span>History of Dewas:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The name&nbsp;<strong>Dewas<\/strong>&nbsp;is derived from the&nbsp;<em><strong>Devi Vaishini hill<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;near the city. The hill has a temple of deity Devi Chamunda and tulja bhavani. The word Dewas is also believed to be a sandhi of words&nbsp;<strong>Dev (deity)<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Vas (Marathi for abode)<\/strong>, thus Dewas means abode of the deity or god.Dewas was formerly the capital of not one but two princely states of British India. The original state was founded in the first half of the 18th century by the brothers Tukaji Rao (senior) and Jivaji Rao (junior), from the Pawar clan of Marathas, who advanced into Malwa with the Maratha&nbsp;<strong>Peshwa<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Baji Rao<\/strong>, in 1728. The brothers divided the territory among themselves; their descendants ruled as the senior and junior branches of the family. After 1841, each branch ruled his own portion as a separate state, though the lands belonging to each were so intimately entangled, that even in Dewas, the capital town, the two sides of the main street were under different administrations and had different arrangements for water supply and lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Also at the bottom of the hill (also called &#8216;<strong>Tekri<\/strong>&#8216;) there is Ashram of Shri Vishnu Tirth Maharaj. Ashram is also known with the name &#8216;<strong>KUTI<\/strong>&#8216;.Dewas boasts many Industrial units providing&nbsp;<strong>employment<\/strong>&nbsp;to thousands of industrial workers. It has a couple of industrial areas on Indore road and also few pockets of industries on Ujjain road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Educational_Institutions_in_Bhopal\"><\/span>Educational Institutions in Bhopal:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dewas has got many&nbsp;<strong>good schools<\/strong>&nbsp;for education up to&nbsp;<strong>HSC level<\/strong>. For higher education there are a few colleges but students prefer to move to Indore as it has got more advanced facilities and options for higher education and various professional courses to chose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Major colleges :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Govt.
