About Ghumura Dance:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ghumra is the traditional folk dance of the district of Kalahandi, which has gained quite popularity in western parts of Odisha. This is done only by dancers who wear indigenous apparel. It reflects the rich folk culture of Odisha. Many people believe that it is a war dance used to provoke warriors. This is a war dance from ancient India, which Ravan had done in Ramayana. This dance can be found in the carving of the Sun Temple of Konark. This dance is still hidden in the village level of southwestern Odisha and in some other places. Still, there is a leading decree to popularize and maintain the specialty of Ghumura dance in the Kalahandi region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History Ghumura Dance:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ghumura dance birth of thousands of years back. Many mythological stories and legends are associated with the history of Ghumura dance. Ghumura Janma Bidhan poet Kandhar Panda wrote in 1954, in which Ghumura dance was described. Ghumura, which is a form of a drum, is said to be a combination of Lord Shiva’s Darmu and Veena of the Goddess Saraswati, which was created by Goddess Durga to kill Mahishasur. During the epic battle of Mahabharata, Ghumura was used by God and Goddess as a war instrument. It is also said that Ghumura was used to do the war music of King Ravana of Sri Lanka to another Hindu mythological epic Ramayana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
