Indravati Dam\u00a0is a\u00a0gravity dam\u00a0on the\u00a0Indravati River, about 90\u00a0km from\u00a0Bhawanipatna\u00a0in the state of\u00a0Odisha\u00a0in India. It is connected to the main Indravati reservoir via a 4.32\u00a0km long and 7 m dia headrace tunnel designed for a discharge capacity of 210 cumecs and terminating in a surge shaft. Currently, it is the largest power-producing dam in eastern India with a capacity of 600\u00a0MW.
The Upper Indravati Project envisages the diversion of water of the Indravati river in its upper reaches into the\u00a0Mahanadi river\u00a0basin for power generation and irrigation. In addition to the powerhouse, the project involved the construction of 4 dams across the Indravati and its tributaries, 8 dykes, and two inter-linking channels to form a single reservoir with a live capacity of 1,435.5 Million m3\u00a0and a barrage across the Hati river in the Mahanadi river basin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
