temple in south Maharashtra. It is situated on the banks of river Krishna at Sangli. Thorle (elder) Chintamanrao Patwardhan consecrated the idol in 1843.The temple has been artistically built with black stone brought from Jyotibha hills. There is a platform, a hall and a &#8216;Nagarkhana&#8217; inside the vast two acres complex of the temple. The entrance door has been carved out of different coloured natural wood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idol of the Lord Ganapati is made of copper. The idol has been kept in a way that it is visible from any part of Ganapati Peth. It looks so beautiful when the silvery rays of evening sun brighten the face of the Ganapati idol.Ganapati festival is celebrated with great religious fervour for five days from Bhadrapad Shuddha Chaturthi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This temple is also known as Moraya Gosavi Temple. It is a well maintained and is very old. It is situated on the banks of river &#8216;Pawana&#8217;. The small ghat on the backside of the temple is very pretty and the quiet atmosphere here pleases the mind. One will not believe that such a quiet place is in such a crowded town. The idol of Lord Ganesh is very beautiful. The procession began with performing \u2018puja\u2019 of Bharatmata and the \u2018Dharma-dhvaja\u2019. Thereafter, child-seekers of Sanatan Sanstha enlightened people with the help of banners and slogans, on why \u2018Gudhi Padva\u2019 should be celebrated as New Year. The procession ended in a meeting that was addressed by Shri. He chose rairi fort as his capital and renamed it to Raigad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raigad fort (also known as Raigarh or Kille Raigad) lies in the western mountain range of India called the Sahyadris. Due to its strategic location and strong constuction this was a fort from where shivaji could safely rule his empire. The imposing brass studded gates and lotus pools are the only major attractions left in this palace as it was destroyed by a huge fire in the year 1827.
