Presiding deity is Lord Shiva, and the temple dates back to 12th century. The temple has a sanctuary and a mandap (open hall) with decorated pillars. Anwa is a small village on the main road leading from Aurangabad to the Ajanta Caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anwa village gained significance because of Anwa Temple. The pillars of the temple has beautifully carved sculptures and bedecked pillars. It was built in 1678 by Aurangzeb\u2019s son, Prince Azam Shahas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lonar:<\/strong><br>This place has a mouth of volcano which ranks amongst the world\u2019s largest five.The Lonar crater is the world&#8217;s only salt water lake in basaltic rock, believed to have been caused by a meteorite hitting Earth around 50,000 years ago. It is surrounded by jungle with a large variety of birds, particularly peacocks, owls, red-wattled Lapwings and ducks. Thirteen temples surround the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Panchakki:<\/strong><br>The Panchakki or the watermills was built in 1624 AD as a memorial to Muslim Saint Baba Shah Muzaffar.This monument located in Aurangabad, Maharastra, displays the scientific thought process put in medieval Indian architecture. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (prominent temples) of Lord Shiva.Grishneshwar is also called as Ghushmeswara or Kusumeshwara. The temple is built from spotted red sandstone.There are sculptures of several Indian gods like Ganesh, Vishnu, Bhrama, Shiva and Parvati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ajanta caves<\/strong>&nbsp;are a World Heritage site. These are cut on the rocky sides of a crescent-shaped gorge. Near the head, there is a waterfall that flows above the mountain rim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This waterfall flows over seven steps into a pool called as the&nbsp;<strong>Saptakund<\/strong>. The Ajanta caves date back to the 2nd century B.C. Inside the mountain, the Buddhist chaitya-vihara prayer and monastery caves can be seen. There are many murals that portray the life in ancient India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ellora caves<\/strong>&nbsp;are also a World heritage Site. These were constructed between the fifth and eighth centuries A.D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a monolithic&nbsp;<strong>Kailasa temple<\/strong>, which is an architectural marvel. There is a Buddhist Vishvakarma chaitya and vihara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Daulatabad Fort<\/strong>&nbsp;has several monuments like the Chini Mahal (Chinese Palace), the Elephant Tank, the Chand Minar and the Bharat Mata Mandir. These cave temples, dating back to the 7th century, have been dedicated to the Hindu lord Shiva, by reflecting Him in three main forms of the Creator, Protector and the Destroyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Karla Caves:<\/strong><br>Situated at a distance of 11 kilometers from Lonavla in Maharashtra, the Karla caves dates back to the 2nd century CE. These caves, comprising large Chaitya halls and viharas, are an excellent example of the magnificent Indian Buddhist architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bhaja Caves:<\/strong><br>The Bhaja caves, 12 kilometers away from Lonavla in Maharashtra, are 18 in number. These caves belong to the 2nd century BCE and includes mainly Chaityas and Viharas, which are also some of the finest examples of the Indian sculptural and architectural style. Cave number 12, the Chaita hall, is the largest cave of all, while cave number 1 is the best in architecture.
