On this day, the statue of <strong>Goddess Chamundeshvari<\/strong> is taken in a colourful procession to <strong>Bannimantapa<\/strong> with great pomp and pageantry. Annual festivals are celebrated at <strong>Hindu temples<\/strong>, <strong>Muslim dargahs<\/strong>, <strong>Jain bastis<\/strong>, and other holy places of worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People from rural and urban areas\u2014men and women\u2014take part <strong>with full enthusiasm<\/strong>, without discrimination of caste, creed, or religion. <strong>Itinerant merchants<\/strong> set up stalls to sell <strong>toys, sweets, sarees, vessels, bangles<\/strong>, and more. <strong>Cattle fairs<\/strong> are also held in many places during jatras, becoming centres of large trade and commerce.
