This palace was built for Umayamma Rani of the Venad royal family. The Numismatics Museum is the only one of its kind in the state of Kerala. Located on the ground floor of the Koyikkal Palace, the coins showcased here belong to different parts of the world as well as to different periods of history. This rare and historically valuable collection is a mark of the trade relation of the State in the past. This ancient palace dates back to the 15th century. The traditional \u2018Nalukettu\u2019 building here is two storeyed with inclined gabled roofs an inner courtyard and museums of folklore and numismatics set up by the department. \u2018The Folklore Museum\u2019 established in 1992 is a treasure house of quaint musical instruments, occupational implements household utensils, models of folk arts, etc.The Numismatics Museum houses rare and historically valuable coins evidencing the trade relations of the State. The Folklore museum was set up in the year 1992 and houses many ancient musical instruments and models of folk arts.The museum also has a number of household utensils made in brass and copper that was used during ancient times.<a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a>Among the several rare and exquisite, &#8216;Karsha&#8217; is the most valuable among the Indian coins found here. Rasi, the world&#8217;s smallest coin is also on display here at the museum.
