Sabari River is also known as the Kolab River in Odisha. This river is one of the main tributaries of Godavari and merges with Godavari near Kunavaram. It originates from the Sikkim mountain range on the 1350 meter MSL with the western slope of Eastern Ghats present in the state of Odisha. The Sabari river basin is an average annual rainfall of approximately 1250 mm. This two states creates a common boundary between Chhattisgarh and Odisha and finally merge with Godavari River and enters Andhra Pradesh. Upper Kolab Project also located in Sabari in Odisha.

One of the main tributaries of Sabari is the Sileru River and it is also known as Machkund. This Andhra Pradesh connects with the border point, Odisha and Chhattisgarh with the Sabari River in the triangular junction. Its auxiliary river has tremendous potential for generating submerged power, which is used with the help of Balimela, Machkund, Donkaryai, Upper and Lower Sileru Hydro Power Projects.
