Kuruva Dweep Island is situated on the tributaries of the river kabani and is a fabulous picnic spot. Its serene silence and wide expanse of the evergreen forest leaves you astonishing. This island is isolated but an array of uncommon species of birds, herbs and orchids are the monarchs of Kuruva Island. Kuruva Island is 17 kms to the east of Mananthavady.Kuruva Island is a vast island of 950 acres abundantly rich with green forest. It is very far from the turbulence of city life making it an exotic place for visitors to relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature.Located at Wyanand, Kuruva Dweep is famous for its scenic beauty, picturesque water bodies and exotic wildlife sanctuary. The island is uninhabited and thus, is an ideal picnic spot for those on a Kerala tour. It is situated at a distance of 17km east of Mananthanady and 40 km North West of famous Sultan Bathery.Dweep means an island; it is a group of 7 islands on the tributaries of Kabini River flowing into the forests.Kuruva Dweep is a series of islands formed on the Kabini river in the Wayanad district of Kerala. Kabini is Tributary of Cauvery river. Dweep in Malayalam means island. The Kabini river splits in to two at the Kuruva Dweep and joins back again. Although much of the river is shallow in these islands , some regions are very deep. In those deep regions crocodiles can be found. Boating facility is provided here by the District Tourism Promotion Council of Wayanad. It makes an ideal picnic spot with trees, animals, birds and exotic orchids and herbs. From the mainland, a ferryboat will transport to one of the islands, and from the other side of this island a bamboo raft facility is provided to go to another island. Standing on the raft and drifting on the river is very adventurous and exciting. At some places the river is shallow and runs between rocks and creeks with beautifully shaped driftwood jutting out to make their presence felt. One can just sit on these rocks forever in the shade of huge trees with the water lapping the feet gently or one can hop from rock to rock and explore the other islands.

The Pulpally cave is where Pazhassi took refuge until he was captured by the British. The Glass Temple of Kottamunda (20 km away from Kalpetta): This temple is located on the slope of Vellarimala and is dedicated to Parswanatha Swamy of the Jain faith. Pakshipathalam in the Brahmagiri hills at Thirunelli, is a challenging tourist spot for any adventure seeking tourist. The deep rock caves, formed among the thick blocks of rocks at the northern top end of the Brahmagiri, are the abode of various birds and wild beasts.
