This rare and historically valuable collection is a mark of the trade relation of the State in the past. This ancient palace dates back to the 15th century. The traditional ‘Nalukettu’ building here is two storeyed with inclined gabled roofs an inner courtyard and museums of folklore and numismatics set up by the department. ‘The Folklore Museum’ established in 1992 is a treasure house of quaint musical instruments, occupational implements household utensils, models of folk arts, etc.The Numismatics Museum houses rare and historically valuable coins evidencing the trade relations of the State. The Folklore museum was set up in the year 1992 and houses many ancient musical instruments and models of folk arts.The museum also has a number of household utensils made in brass and copper that was used during ancient times.Among the several rare and exquisite, ‘Karsha’ is the most valuable among the Indian coins found here. Rasi, the world’s smallest coin is also on display here at the museum. The museum also has coins belonging to the Gwalior Royal Family, the Nizam of Hyderabad, Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan etc.The Palace makes for a thrilling visit and every person who loves exploring and visiting the should include the Koyikkal Palace, for an outing that is unexpected fun.
