About:
Pallippuram Fort is situated on the northern fringe of the c, Pallippuram Fort was built in 1507 AD, by the Portugese. It is considered to be the first fort built in India by the Europeans.It witnessed several battles between the Portugese and the Dutch. The hexagonal-shaped fort has three storeys and is now a protected monument.This fort is also popularly known as Ayakkotta or Alikkotta. In 1663 the Portuguese surrendered it to the Dutch. About 1789, through the strategic diplomacy of Raja Kesava Dasan, the able Devan of the Raja of Travancore, the Fort was purchased by the Travancore from the Dutch. History:
In 1663 the Portuguese surrendered it to the Dutch. About 1789, through the strategic diplomacy of Raja Kesava Dasan, the able Devan of the Raja of Travancore, the Fort was purchased by the Travancore from the Dutch. From 1964 it is a protected monument of the Kerala state department of archaeology.

vypeen island:vypeen is like a hand stretched out to the water. 24 km long and 2.5 km wide, with sea and backwater on either side, Vypeen is mostly densely populated but suffers from a shortage of fresh potable water during the dry seasPallipuram Church :The church is built by the Portuguese in 1577. The exquisite picture of Ave Mary on the top of “Altar” is brought from Portugal.Cherai Beach:Resort is located at 40 kms from Ernakulam city. This lovely beach bordering Vypeen island is ideal for swimming. Dolphins are occasionally seen here. Cherai, is well known for sea food. The Pallipuram Fort built by the Portuguese is 4 Km from here.

Road Transport:To reach the Pallipuram Fort, one can take a ferry service operating from Ernakulam boat jetty and Fort Kochi to Vypeen. There are buses also plying from Ernakulam to Vypeen and Vypeen to Pallipuram.

The Paliam Palace, abode of the Paliath Achans, hereditary Prime Ministers to the erstwhile Maharajas of Kochi, represents the architectural splendour of Kerala.Mangalavanam-” The green lung of Kochi city”The ecologically sensitive Magalavanam is safely tucked away behind the Ernakulam High Court. This evergreen forest land in the heart of Kochi is a green oasis for many migratory birds as a nesting ground.
