Gavi Gangadareshwara Temple
his temple, also located near Basavanagudi, is well known for its remarkable architecture. The Gavi Gangadhareshwara temple is one of the oldest temples in Bangalore. Legend has it that the cave temple dates back to the Tretha Yuga. Kempegowda built two of the oldest temples in Bangalore: the Bull temple and the Gavi Gangadareshwara Temple. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi is inside a natural cave in Gavipuram. 

Shiva Statue: Airport Road
The Shiva Temple, located on Airport Road, is seated Shiva in the Himalayas, built in the year 1995. Kadu Mallikarjunaswamy
Built in one of the oldest areas in Bangalore – Malleswaram, the temple is on a hillock. As the legend goes, the temple belonged to Chatrapati Shivaji’s stepbrother Venkoji, who came upon a ‘shivalingam’ in 1669 and consecrated the temple around it.

Banashankari Temple
The uniqueness of Sri Banashankari Amma Temple is that the deity, Banashankari Amma is worshipped in Rahukala, an inauspicious time according to Hindu belief. The area, Banashankari is named after the goddess. Situated on the busy Kanakapura Road, it is one of the most popular temples of Bangalore.

Bull Temple
The Bull Temple is located at Basavangudi, atop ‘Bugle hill’ in Bangalore. Kempe Gowda, who is known as founder of Bangalore, constructed this temple in a typical Dravadian style. The temple has a mammoth monolithic bull called ‘Nandi’ which is 4.5m high and 6.5m long. It is believed that the statue keeps on growing in size further and further.

Baidhanmai and Cawasji Dadabhai Dar-E-Meher
This Parsi temple, situated at the corner of Queen’s Road and Cunningham Road, has carvings of bulls on its many pillars.It is open only to Zoroastrians, the followers of Zoroaster – the prophet of the ancient religion of Iran.

ISKCON Temple
Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra Temple is accredited for having the ISKCON’s largest temple complex in the world. Being made by the Iskcon cult, the magnificent shrine is commonly known as Iskcon Temple. Located on west of Chord Road in Bangalore, the colossal shrine sprawls on seven-acres of ‘Hare Krishna Hill’. This outstanding temple is one amongst the best shrines constructed by the ISKCON. Iskcon Temple can be reached easily by taking regular buses, local vehicles or by hiring taxis from the city of Bangalore.

DoddaGanesha Temple
The monolithic Ganesha is about 18 ft in height and 16 ft in width. The God is also known as Shakthi Ganapathi or Satya Ganapathi. People from all walks of life come here to seek blessings. What makes this idol more attractive to the devotees is, the different types of decorations that are done during the week. The most famous is the butter coating of the idol. More than 100 kgs of butter is used for this purpose.

Church in Bangalore

Holy Trinity Church
This beautiful landmark at the east end of the M.G. Road was built in 1848-51. It is built in the English Renaissance style.The church can accommodate 700 people and is regarded as the largest “military” church in Southern India.

St. Andrew’s Kir
The only Scottish Kirk in Bangalore, situated on Cubon Road parallel to MG Road contains stained glass windows depicting Lord Jesus and his eight apostles. A pipe organ was also installed here in 1881. The walls are adorned with polished brass plaques. There is also a plaque of John Cook, the Principal of Central College in Bangalore in 1915.

St Mary’s Basilica

Bannerghatta National Park
